Last Summer Camping Trip

The last camping trip of summer vacation is in the books. This trip took us to a campground in the Sierra's, Snowflower RV Resort. It was beautiful!

When we arrived at the campground we had the opportunity to explore and pick out our site for the next two nights. This was something new to us and we loved it. After driving up the dirt road toward the tent sites, we took our time and walked around examining each site. We were looking for the best shade, large flat area for two tents, and an amazing view. We found it!

The next day we drove our truck back down the hill to day camp by the lake. I can't express more how beautiful this location was. We were sitting by the side of this amazing little lake with trees and mountains surrounding us. We also were able to paddle our kayaks around the lake. As we paddled we just glided across the water with ease. (So different than paddling in the high winds and surf of Bodega Bay.) We spend our morning like this, sitting on the shore and paddling on the lake. It was very relaxing Saturday morning.

We took a break from the sun and return to our shady site for a quiet afternoon and early dinner. Then we headed back down the hill for campground hosted campfire and s'mores. After all, what is camping without s'mores. Then back to the pool for one more quick dip before heading back to camp for the night.

We stayed up to watch the star come out and looked for all the planets that we could see in the night sky. It is easy to forget how many stars there are until you get out away from all the lights. To finish up our night we even got up at 2 am to try to catch some shooting stars.
Sunday we rose to another lovely day. Packed up all our gear and began the trek home. It was a wonderful, relaxing way to end our summer.

Some highlights about our campground.
-A lot of dirt roads (I loved it, some might find it a little dusty).
-There were bears. Upon entering the campground we were told there are 6 bears in the area and that we needed to lock up all our food in the vehicle every night, which we happily did. We never saw any bears, but several other campers did.
-Our site was high on the hill. We loved the quite and the view, but we had to drive down to the water.
-No campfires are allowed in the sites, but they do host a campfire so the kids can make s'mores.
-Overall, we had a great time!

Life is a Lovely Adventure!
